Swiss Glacier Express returns to normal schedule after train accident

It could take months for experts to find out what exactly caused the train accident on Friday July 23 in south-eastern Switzerland, causing one dead and dozens of injured. Meanwhile the Glacier Express has resumed its service, attracting crowds of tourists as usual.

Swiss communities around the world take out their flags, traditional costumes and painted lanterns to celebrate Swiss National Day (August 1) each year. The same goes for Swiss ex-pats living in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. Four Swiss immigrant families started it all when they founded the “Colonia Helvetia” 122 years ago in the town of Indaiatuba. It’s a colourful affair, as swissinfo’s Claudinê Gonçalves discovered during a visit in 2009.
